In a first for the UK, and to coincide with their Big Wine Event 2013, Booths Supermarkets have today (9th October 2013) launched a new initiative in their Knutsford, Cheshire store whereby customers can now taste up 64 wines free of charge via their newly acquired By The Glass® wine preservation and dispensing systems.
Until now no other supermarket chain have ever offered such a diverse tasting range and this investment is a clear statement of how seriously Booths are about offering the best customer experience possible when it comes to selecting and experiencing different types of wine.
Their dedicated wine staff are on hand to help with customers selections and to discuss the range on offer. During launch day today customers have been able to try wines ranging from I Duecento “NDS” Nero D’Avola & Shiraz selling from just £6.39 to Chateau Palmer Margaux 1996 selling at £150 and even a Chateau D’Yquem Sauternes 1997. With over 800 bins to choose from the selection is extremely impressive.
For the Knutsford installation Booths have chosen 4 x 6-bottle By The Glass® systems and 2 x 20-bottle systems (offering 64 wines in total) finished in black and housed on a specially built plinth that showcases their offering superbly.
If the experiences of today is anything to go by this is going to be a real winner for booths. From as early as 9.00am this morning customers were tasting and buying wine – something that never used to happen before their striking tasting centrepiece was installed – and feedback from customers has been extremely positive with many trying wines they have never ever considered buying previously.
The Big Wine Event only runs from 9th October – 5th November 2013 but I am sure that today we saw Booths change the face of wine tasting in UK supermarkets for ever. If you are in the area – or even just going to be close by – make a special journey and go and see the future… today!
